Designed by Adam Rude the Brigham Residence is what homes should actually be built like. The energy efficient building incorporates the latest in solar energy technology to minimize grid electricity consumption and saves a handsome amount of energy with the use of innovative design and construction techniques.
The public and private regions of the house are defined through the isolation of form. The independent volume shift and rotate over one another to benefit the most from solar exposure. The geometry of the building optimizes shading while addressing both the street and view axes on the site.
The building incorporates a translucent photovoltaic array that produces 72KW of power and an insulated concrete wall that enhances interior comfort. The designer has also provided and LCD energy display at the first level of the house, where the occupants can control and monitor the energy consumption of the house.
