Go in any hair studio or hair salon and the most prominent type of waste you’ll be covered with is human hair. Studio Vastra Sandgatan, a Swedish hair studio in Helsingborg has tried to recycle all that hairy waste along with drinking water bottles to create two poufs. The interestingly green furniture project, dubbed Bare Hair Project, features two poufs made using human hair stuffed in recycled PET bottles.
Collecting hair waste and using it to fill the poufs resulted in customers being a part of the process of making furniture. The transparent poufs highlight the materials used in it, which would otherwise be considered ugly and not useful. The color and shape of the poufs can be changed according to the color of the stuffing, lending uniqueness to each pouf.
