In an effort to explore our relationship with nature, London-based artist Ellie Davies has come up with a series of sculptures using materials found on the forest floor. The Woodland Dwellings are fabricated using a combination of traditional and experimental techniques, which after completion settle into the surrounding space creating a new identity for themselves.
The sculptures are continuously photographed after being built to keep a check on their evolved state, while they take on more of the forest trash such as leaves and branches onto themselves, creating their own personality. The environmentally friendly sculptures are intended to investigate the concept of buildings that can be made using similar materials and function as a shelter, sanctuary or a play area.
