Lotus has announced that the company has started testing its all new range extended hybrid, the Evora 414E, which was initially showcased at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. The range extended electric vehicle, or REEV, has been labeled by the company as a technology demonstrator.
Based on the platform of Evora S, the Evora 414E offers 1000Nm of torque, which is two and a half times that offered by the Evora S. The vehicle is propelled by two electric motors, one in each rear wheel, which generates a thumping 309kW of riding power. The enhanced torque and power output makes sure that you can reach a top speed of 209kph.
The all-electric range of the hybrid has been marked at 30 miles, after which the conventional engine kicks in. The conventional engine incorporated in the vehicle can also run on multiple fuels including gasoline, ethanol or methanol. Powered by Xtrac 1092 transmission, the Evora 414E produces a mere 55 grams of carbon dioxide for every kilometer.
